I don’t go in for live albums much, but that didn’t stop me from buying Plays Live at the “estate” sale:
The 1983 release from Peter Gabriel. I’d never actually seen a Peter Gabriel record in the wild before so that fact overcame the live.
It actually sounds pretty good, probably owing to (according to the Wikipedia liner notes) a clean up and enhancement in the recording studio after the fact.
Anyway, at almost 90 minutes it’s a pretty health dose of PG, which is a good thing. The post editing they did made for a quite listenable record. There is a lot to unpack here for a PG newbie… only familiar with Shaking The Tree (Sixteen Golden Greats).
What it does do is inspire me to seek out more of the Peter Gabriel catalog, especially the first three self titled albums…
