February 4

This is one of my favorite records in my collection. I have no recollection of when or where I bought the thing (which is strange for me) but I have had it as long as I can remember.

The record is a weird double album from Credence Clearwater Revival on Fantasy Records called 1970.

It’s basically Cosmo’s Factory (side 1 & 2) and Pendulum (side 3 & 4) packaged together in one gatefolded LP. It was apparently released in 1978, but I’m having trouble finding too much more information on it. My copy is pretty clean, although my first disk seems to have been pressed with a tad to little vinyl and is flat on one corner (still plays well!).

The last time I had it out on a TT was July 11 1985. The reason I know this is I still have the cassette I made with it on that date:

The cassette kept me awake on many a midnight trip from Tacoma to Lewiston, Idaho in my old 1969 Ford Bronco (I wish I had lost this cassette and kept the Bronco).

Cosmo’s Factory is by far and away my favorite CCR record. And it start out with the song Ramble Tamble, which may be my favorite CCR song… pure garage rock greatness.

I might even go so far as to say that CCR is my favorite American band! I’ll guarantee the this LP won’t spend it’s next 30 years squirreled  away on a shelf!
